A farm trail offers Westchester County residents and visitors the opportunity to stop by and visit 14 farms from Sleepy Hollow to North Salem where crops are grown and animals are raised. Dr. Adam Levy, co-director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, was honored with the organization's Humanitarian Award, in appreciation of his outstanding care of Friends of Karen children, Armonk couple Lydia and Neil Singer received the Sheila W. Petersen Award, named in honor of Friends of Karen's founder, in recognition of their leadership and service to the organization.

North Salem resident, Olympic figure skater and long-time skating television analyst Richard Totten "Dick" Button was born July 18, 1929 in Engelwood, N.J. He is a twice Olympic Champion and five time World Champion , and the only non-European man to become European Champion. Button is credited with having been the first skater to successfully land the double axel jump in competition in 1948 and the first triple jump , a triple loop, in 1952.

Westchester Man Gets Prison Sentence In Bribery Case

Anthony Bove, a North Salem resident and the former Commissioner of the Mount Vernon Water Department, was sentenced Friday to 15 months in prison for soliciting a $10,000 bribe from an employee of the department, and for lying to federal law enforcement officers when interviewed during the investigation. Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, said Bove pleaded guilty in March in White Plains federal court before U.S. District Judge Vincent Briccetti, who imposed the sentence.

Beaches In Northern Westchester Reopen After Algae Scare

Beaches at Peach Lake in North Salem were shut down Thursday because of dangerous levels of blue-green algae growth. The Westchester County Department of Health has now run tests and cleared the concerns, reopening the beaches, according to News 12. The town is still asking residents to be aware and look for the algae, which can cause vomiting, rashes and difficulty breathing.
