Day Laborer Charged In Murder Of North Salem Socialite Returns To Court

The former day laborer charged in the bludgeoning death of an 83-year-old socialite on a sprawling 300-acre estate that shocked the bucolic town of North Salem and the area returned to the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains on Thursday for a pre-trial conference. The latest snowfall projections for the storm system that will move through the area late Thursday into Friday morning have increased, particularly in northern areas, according to the National Weather Service. While a remake of "Beauty and the Beast" is opening in movie theaters this month, North Salem residents can also watch a live-action version closer to home. North Salem Middle/High School students will be performing in three renditions of the play, which is based on Disney's original animated movie from 1992.

Missing North Salem Wallaby Spotted Again

Indy, the 8-year-old North Salem wallaby that has been missing for almost three years, was recently spotted in Yorktown, according to its owner. Officials from the Department of Environmental Protection were inspecting Amawalk Dam with infrared lighting in the middle of the night on Jan. 29 and spotted Indy at Lake Drive near Ashton Road in Yorktown, according to Susan Bush, who cared for Indy with her husband, Warren Saks at their North Salem home.
