A North Salem man is facing a felony charge after he stole several thousand dollars from his employer in Southeast, according to Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith. Deputy Sheriff Jonathan Irwin responded to a report of a larceny at the Home Depot store located at 80 Independent Way in Southeast on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at approximately 7:50 p.m. The asset protection supervisor at that location reported that an employee who works at the returns desk had been taking items of merchandise that had been returned by customers and creating additional return transactions in order to acquire store credit for these items, the sheriff's office said.
