Murphy, who has served on the Yorktown Town Board since 2009, is hoping to become senator of the 40th District, replacing Greg Ball, who is not running for re-election. The 40th District covers Pleasantville, Armonk, Bedford, Yorktown, Briarcliff, Chappaqua, Cortlandt, Lewisboro, Mount Pleasant, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Peekskill, Pound Ridge, Somers and parts of Putnam and Dutchess County.
