School officials in New York state have confirmed that North Salem art teacher Lauren Svendsen was killed when a tree fell on her car on Brush Hill Road during the height of Tuesday's thunderstorm. Svendsen was traveling on the roadway at around 5 p.m. Tuesday when a fast moving thunderstorms with winds that exceeded 70 miles per hour rolled into the area.
